Advanced gray balancing with QPcard 201 The normal way to use QPcard 201 is with the free software QPcolorsoft 501. However, it is possible to use only the gray patches on the color card as described below.There are seven neutral patches on QPcard 201 that can be used for advanced gray balancing. The procedure is similar to advanced gray balancing with QPcard 101. The difference is that we are using four patches instead of three, and that we now can choose the four out of seven patches best suited for an even distribution along the tonal range of the picture. Avoid patches that are close the lightest (white) or the darkest (black) end points of tonal range.
This method is perfect for fine tuning of the total gray balance in pictures taken in a studio environment.
